Overton Veterinary Hospital PC Overton Veterinary Hospital PC

Full-Time Associate Veterinarian Position Immediately Available

Overton Veterinary Hospital, P.C. is located in beautiful, historic Mobile, Alabama. Our AAHA accredited hospitals are located close to Gulf Coast beaches and State Parks. We are approximately 45 minutes to Dauphin Island and 1.5 hours to Orange and Gulf Shores beaches. Mobile, Alabama is the true birthplace of Mardi Gras which is celebrated every year with floats and parades on Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.

Our Professional Corporation (Overton Veterinary Hospital, P.C.) includes 2 locations and 3 businesses:

  1. Irby-Overton Veterinary Hospital. This business was started in the 1940s by Dr. L.E. Irby. Dr. Irby was an Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine graduate. He was also a football star in college. He played the quarterback position. Dr. Beth Griffin-Overton purchased his practice in 1992 and kept the Irby name out of recognition and respect.
  2. Great Oaks Veterinary Hospital. This business was a start-up in 1997 by Dr. Beth. It opened in Vigouroux shopping center and in 2009 moved into a beautiful free-standing facility. Great Oaks takes its name from the credits of the movie 101 Dalmatians, Great Oaks Productions.
  3. Airport @Snow Veterinary Urgent Care. A start-up veterinary urgent care business that began in 2009. Our Doctors rotate urgent care services which are provided Monday through Thursday 5:00-9:00 pm, Saturdays noon-6:00pm and Sundays 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Each doctor will cover urgent care appropriately one day a week and one weekend a month when we are fully staffed. Critical care cases and calls after business hours are transferred to MedVet which is Mobile’s 24-hour Emergency Hospital.

We are offering a generous salary and benefits package which is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

The services we offer our clients range from routine vaccines, spays, and neuters to orthopedic plating and complicated surgical procedures such as Gall Bladder removal. Most of our extensive procedures are performed at Irby-Overton as it is our larger 7,000 square foot facility compared to approximately 2,500 square feet at Great Oaks.
Both facilities utilize Cornerstone Veterinary software. Our dental suites contain ultrasonic scaling and high-speed drills. Digital X-Ray is offered at both locations as well as fluid pumps, injection pumps, EKG machines, surgical monitoring equipment, tono-pens, and Doppler blood pressure.

Irby-Overton’s surgical suite contains a surgical laser which is great for hemostasis and pain management. A Ligashure Vessel Sealant system is used often for spays and neuters. The surgical suite holds two v-trough, heated surgical tables. Karl Storz endoscopy is available for TCI’s, gastric foreign body retrieval, etc…

Our biggest asset by far is our Staff. Most of our staff members have at least 5 years experience and many have 10 plus years. Our practice culture is warm, caring, and loving. These values extend from each other to our clients and their pets. Our mission statement is to provide perfect patient care and perfect client service. While we realize this is an unobtainable goal, it is what we strive for every day.

Special interests of Dr. Beth and Staff include Shelter Medicine and Theriogenology. Consequently, the Mobile SPCA, Mobile County Animal Shelter, and many wonderful Breeders are our clients.
